Gratitude and Acknowledgment: The Foundation of My Journey
Hello, my name is Gabriel Richard Jr., and I am the founder and educator of WIN University Online. Before we dive into this journey together, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude—first and foremost to God. I can’t begin this next phase of my life without acknowledging who brought me here, who has been guiding me, and who has equipped me with the gifts that have brought me this far. All the glory belongs to God, and it’s important for me to recognize that it’s not about me—it’s about Him.
This principle is at the core of everything I do and stand for. I know this might sound countercultural in today’s world, where it’s common to take credit for our own achievements, but for me, it’s clear. All the blessings and opportunities I’ve had are gifts. And the truth is, many people don’t take the time to realize this. We tend to focus on ourselves, forgetting to acknowledge the Source of our lives, our purpose, and everything we have.
Reflecting on Life’s Challenges and Lessons
Throughout my life, I’ve faced many challenges, but it’s in the last five to six years that I’ve experienced the most profound shifts. When I started my journey in Forex back in 2007, I had no idea how deeply my life would be impacted. Then, in 2016, when I first launched www.TheForexHelper.com , everything changed again. But one of the most defining moments came in 2019, when my wife and I lost our son, Noah Gabriel Richard, on October 16th.
Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and it was during that time that I found myself reflecting on life in a way I never had before. I remember sitting with my family after leaving the hospital, fully realizing that my son wasn’t coming back. The grief was overwhelming, but in that space of pain, something incredible happened. God opened my eyes to a deep truth: my life, my family, my children—they are all gifts from Him.
Finding Strength in Faith
In that moment of grief, I was deeply reminded of the story of Job in the Bible. Job, who suffered unimaginable loss, responded with words that have always resonated, but never so deeply as they did in that moment: “Naked I came into the world, and naked I will go. The Lord gives and the Lord takes. Blessed be the name of the Lord.”(Job 1:21) Though I hadn’t lost all my children as Job did, I could connect with the weight of his words in a new way. I realized that I came into this world with nothing, and I will leave with nothing. The time we have here, and the gifts we've been given, are fleeting. And it became clear to me that it’s what we do with those gifts that matters most.
That moment marked a profound shift in my thinking. I realized that everything I have, every blessing, is a gift. It was a revelation that changed me forever. Even in the midst of the deepest grief, I saw that I was never alone. God’s presence was with me, and His gifts were all around me.
Living with Gratitude and Purpose
It’s easy to get distracted by the challenges of life, but when we stop to reflect, we realize how much we have to be thankful for. Life is brief compared to eternity, and we must make the most of the time we have. And with that understanding comes the responsibility to be grateful and to use the gifts we’ve been given wisely.
As I look back at everything I’ve gone through, both good and bad, I see that each experience has shaped me. I’ve learned to embrace the gifts of teaching, entrepreneurship, and community. Through it all, I’ve discovered that life is about more than just personal success—it’s about using what we have to make a meaningful impact.
Discovering My Gift of Teaching
I didn’t always know that teaching was my gift. There was a period of time where I didn’t step into that calling, didn’t fully embrace that purpose. I went through many different experiences, not exercising that gift and not walking in that purpose. But in 2018, when I wrote the ebook Easy Forex Trading, something shifted. It was then that I realized my passion for teaching and simplifying complicated concepts for others. That moment was the ignition for me, the realization that teaching others is my calling. It became clear that my purpose was to help people understand difficult ideas and make them accessible. Since then, I’ve been walking in that calling, knowing that this is what I was meant to do.
Shining Light in Our Unique Callings
This brings me to a crucial point, one that echoes the teachings of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 7. Paul reminds us that wherever Christ finds us, that's where we are meant to stay and shine His light. If you’re a doctor, you don’t need to leave your practice to become a missionary unless God specifically calls you to do so. Instead, you shine the light of Christ right where you are, with your colleagues, patients, and everyone you encounter. The same goes for any profession.
For me, when I came to Christ in 2001, I was learning to become a teacher. God found me in education, and I’ve remained there ever since. I’m walking in my gift, purpose, and passion—and I believe that’s what we’re all called to do. I want to help others discover their own gifts and passions, and walk in their purpose just as I am.
